David Copperfield vs. Edward Cullen

Yes, I finally decided to do a rant about Twilight and it's utter nonsense. Normally, I never had thoughts to do so but after watching a video of a group of men riff-raffing the movie Twilight, one thing lead to another and boom, here we are. Now, for today ladies and gentlemen I'll be poking holes at Edward's character and comparing him to his complete opposite, David Copperfield. So, if you're fan of Twilight and love Sir Sparkles-A-Lot, I highly suggest you don't read this rant because it's going to sting. But the truth often hurts...

Okay, I don't need to read the whole series of Twilight to know what how emo and messed up Edward is. Hell, just reading a small portion of Twilight and hearing the rest of from other people who've read the book and disliked is just enough to get a clear picture of Edward. Beside being emo, he has mood swings that could rival a PMSing female, twinkles like a star, watches Bella as she sleeps (Excuse me? Do you know how disturbing that is? If Edward was pimply and hideous, all you fans wouldn't be sighing, "Awww!" and thinking how cute that is), sulks like a bloody two-year-old, and is possessive to a point of being abusive. Oh, and in a subtle way, he also demonstrates pedophilia.

Now, countless of you will disagree with me and come up with all these rebuttals, especially the pedophile part. Edward is 107 years old and even though he looks 17, his maturity level is lower the Earth's core. So, a 107-year-old falls for a whiny 17-year-old girl named Bella (I'm tempted to do a rant on her pathetic nature as well)...what does that tell you? If you say "true love", then you don't get the picture. Society has labeled men that are way younger than Edward as pedophiles because they've been doing something they shouldn't have been doing with adolescent girls. But somehow, Edward just slips off the radar and many people don't have a problem with it. It's like reading a Van Helsing fanfic of someone having Dracula fall for a fourteen-year-old girl--it's nuts and utterly wrong (by the way, Dracula would never fall in love a girl that young, he likes his women developed and of a more mature mind). Do I make myself clear?

Moving right along. Majority of the time, Edward is an epitome of emoness and it's pitiful. I've once made up a line that said "Emonism in a man is not attractive" which was inspired by the TV show 24 quote "Insecurity in a man is never attractive". Accompanying his emoness are these mood swings that are simply atrocious. Ladies, do you really want to be with a man like that? One who sulks about and then spouts into all these rampant moods that range from all ends of the emotion spectrum? How can you find that appealing? I know women want a man who’s sensitive and all but this is just ridiculous. Edward is behaving either like a toddler or irritable women who gets awful menstrual cramps.

And let’s not forget how he “dazzles” and scintillates in sunlight! Um…can you say “gay vampire”? Someone tell Edward that Tinkerbell is fit to be tied and she wants her pixie dust back. He is no longer her apprentice any more.

Okay, folks, enough about Edward for now. Time for me to introduce his polar opposite, David Copperfield! For those who never heard of this utterly sweet character, David is from the classical novel David Copperfield by Charles Dickens. Now, unlike Twilight, I was able to happily read through the whole book that was past 700 pages or so but Dickens could write. Darn good, I might add. Anyway, David and Edward are like day and night and I can assure you that David Copperfield is way better than Edward Cullen even if he’s just your average young man.

For starters, David has no ounce of emoness in him nor does he erupt into mood swings every now and then. Nor he is a pedophile. He doesn’t break into the house of Dora or Agnes and watch them sleep. If you told him to that, he would be appalled and rightly so. He’s never possessive—just protective. In fact, he would be one the last people in the fictional world to commit abuse, David is just this sweet, loving young man who would treat you like a queen and is true gentleman. Doesn’t that sound nice?

Since I stated how David doesn’t possess any of Edward’s unsavory qualities, let me tell you more about him. David has risen from the abuse of his despicable step-father and step-aunt while his mother was too docile to prevent it. After being subjected to many harsh circumstances, David still remained to be pure of heart, innocent (in a sense), and a loving, compassionate person. Now, he is naïve at many times but that’s way better than some creepy, sparking vampire who is watching you sleep in your own bloody room. That’s something Uriah Heep would probably do if he got the chance to do that to poor Agnes.

Furthermore, I would like to point out that I think David is stronger character than Edward. When Edward had to be parted from his dear Bella, he was thinking committing suicide by letting this league of other vampires to kill him because he would never be with his dear, beloved Bella again. Now, I know how much losing someone you love can make you want to join them in death but clearly there was no romance between Edward and Bella so Edward’s melancholy state is no excuse. However, David loses his first wife, Dora, and despite his heart grieving for her, he moves on in life and continues to be the best he can be. And at the end, he marries again to Agnes, a childhood companion of his who equals him perfectly and completes him in ways Dora never did.

On a final note, if Edward Cullen looked like Uriah Heep from David Copperfield (red hair, pale and sunken like a cadaver, has this shifty, smarmy look to him, his skin is slimy like a frog, etc) people wouldn’t be all over him. They would denounce him in heartbeat. Period.

An Iota About Me

A)  List seven quirks/habits/facts about yourself
B)  Tag seven people to do the same
C)  Do not tag the person that tagged you or tag "whoever wants to do it."

1. I want to achieve world domination. Quite a redunant goal but I like it. I have many ideas and plans to execute once I claim the seat of hightest power...so beware.

2. I am a pysmatic logomaniac, or an inquiring person who is obsessed with words. Seriously, I am. I carry a dictionary in my backpack when I go to school and pretty much every where I go. Currently I am in the possession of nine dictionaries: one's a dictionary and thesaurus combined, (one of my favorites), The Bibliophile's Dictionary (another favorite), The Gilded Tongue (again, another penchant), a medical dictionary, an Oxford Dictionary (this one goes with me to school), two dictionaries that are actully the same but the first one's spin fell apart (I was displeased...) so it's pretty much dormant for the time being, a college dictionary, and lastly, a Japanese dictionary that friend lend to me. From all this, my vocab is quite eloquent and broad and I'm downright proud of it!

3. I tend to fall for the anti-heroes, dark heroes, tormented souls, villains, etc. Many heroes I have read or played in games are becoming trite, boring, or simply fail to capture my interest. This doesn't happen all the time; if the villain is cruel and evil enough then I'll be wishing for his demise. Yet since I have alligned myself with the Dark Side years ago, I'm mostly going to stick there and root for those "bad boys".

4. I love writing for fanfiction.net. That little hobby of mine has transformed into an obesession of mine. I go by the penname "SpeedDemon315" and so far have ten stories up. Most of them are Naruto and Fire Emblem but I also have a Van Helsing and a Lord of the Rings fanfic.

5. Collecting weapons is another hobby of mine. I just love weapons, every type, and if I was a billionare, you bet your sweet arse I'd be enhancing my small weapon collection to make the assemblage more grand. Frighten of me, yet?

6. Going off on number four, I tend to write alternate pairings, simply because a) I prefer them, b) My mind invents so many good story ideas for non-canon pairings and usually doesn't work with most canon pairings. For example, in the Naruto fandom, I am ardent, fierce supporter of Orochimaru/Sakura and lot of my impening Naruto stories will feature this pairing. A few other pairings I'm a fan of are two of my favorites in the Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones department: Valter/Selena and Caellach/Amelai. I'm pretty much the founder of those two pairings, no one in fanfiction ever wrote about them so I started writing a mini-fanfic with Valter/Selena (I later did the same for Caellach/Amelia) and placed that couple, Caellach/Amelia, and a couple of other unusual pairings into a challenge so the couples would gain more attention. So I hatching plans to have Valter/Selena and Caellach/Amelia conquer the Fire Emblem fandom. Ephidel/Florina is another covert invention of mine that I'm plotting to unelash on the FE world. It's time for a revolution. Who wants to join me?

7. I'm competely besotted with the hit TV series Friends. I am the proud owner of all ten seasons and know many of the quotes and some episodes my heart. I'm sort of in a Friends marathon and have yet to start watching season 3...I'm so far behind.

That's all you need to know abou me. As for tagging, I rarely venture here hence there is only one person I can feasibly tag. Tagging:

Yeah, I know it's been ages since I last posted an entry up here but I can assure you all I'm not dead and am not writing from the beyond. Wouldn't that be something if I was?

Hopefully, I will have my next banner for ravenschild4u/ravenesquesky as soon as possible. Can't believe I let myself slack off on that little "project"....

Chi Banner is, at last, complete!

Due to some internet malfunctions, I'm posting up Monogatari Chi's banner up a little later than I would have liked. Nevertheless, it's up and I must say, I certainly had fun creating it.  ...Though I'm still in the dark in how to make its image appear on the entry. Eh, at least the link's working.

So I managed to finished the banner today, which surprised me. I thought I would be working on it for days but I have a knack for these sort of things. Anyway, I hope this link works. It may not appear pretty or elegant for the matter, but I believe it works. Enjoy everyone!

So, anyway, I'll be getting to work those banners and when I'm done, I post them up here. Later, gators!

Same old, same old. I may be able to do a banner for ravenschild4u's Blood and Trust pertaining to one of her characters. It sounds like fun, I'll be looking forward to the task.

Nothing New

Hm, it's been awhile. Yeah, not much to say. I'm not quite sure what to post up here, literacy-wise. I debating on doing either a King of Hell story or a "300" story or some other work not included in fanfiction.

Adjusting

Hm, I just got my account so I'm quite new here. Once I have adjusted to this site I probably post up a few stories if I deem the time ripe (and providing I have the time to do so). So till then, later!
